Vietjet Operates Two Emergency Flights for Vietnam’s Rescue Mission in Myanmar

April 1, 2025 – Vietjet operated two special relief flights, VJ2875 and VJ2877, using an Airbus A330 and an A321 to transport Vietnamese rescue teams to Myanmar following the devastating earthquake. In support of the emergency response, the airline facilitated the swift deployment of relief personnel from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense. The two flights departed from Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport to Yangon on March 30.

Vietjet ensured the rapid deployment of these flights by expediting flight permits and technical preparations. Its experienced crew and staff have been assigned to assist the relief mission, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to humanitarian aid.

The flights transported 106 rescue and relief personnel from the Vietnamese armed forces, along with trained search-and-rescue dogs and over 60 tons of essential aid supplies, including medical equipment and food, to support earthquake relief efforts in Myanmar.

Vietjet CEO Dinh Viet Phuong said: “Vietjet is always ready for special missions. We swiftly completed all necessary preparations and successfully operated two flights to transport emergency rescue teams from the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense to Myanmar, providing timely support for earthquake relief efforts.”

Upon landing at Yangon Airport, Myanmar, rescue personnel from the Vietnamese armed forces, alongside Vietjet staff, immediately begin unloading and transporting essential supplies to designated relief sites. Police and military officers also take part in search-and-rescue operations, provide medical assistance, and support recovery efforts in the aftermath of the earthquake.

A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28, causing widespread devastation. The disaster has claimed over 1,600 lives, injured nearly 3,500 people, and left hundreds missing. Strong tremors damaged homes, collapsed bridges, and disrupted roads across the country, with shaking also felt in Thailand and Vietnam.

Vietjet has a strong track record of humanitarian missions, embodying a spirit of compassion and solidarity. The airline has operated numerous relief flights, including transporting aid and rescue teams for the 2018 Indonesia earthquake and tsunami, typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines in 2013, and pandemic response efforts. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietjet swiftly mobilized flights carrying healthcare workers, police, and military forces. Committed to community support, charitable initiatives remain at the heart of Vietjet’s mission.

Since launching the New Delhi-Ho Chi Minh City route in 2019, Vietjet has pioneered in expanding air links between India and Vietnam, operating over 8,300 flights and transporting nearly 1.62 million passengers. The introduction of new direct flights is expected to boost tourism and trade among Asian regions, offering travelers from India more affordable options to explore Vietnam and beyond. Indian travelers can take advantage of Vietjet’s international connections to popular destinations, including Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore or major cities in Australia and Northeast Asia.

Exercising in Summer Heat,It Could Be Risking Your Health

Mumbai – As temperatures soar to record highs each year, it is crucial to take extra precautions while exercising to prevent heat-related health issues. Whether training for police or military recruitment, hitting the gym, or striving for weight loss, failing to follow proper guidelines can have dangerous consequences. Many young individuals rigorously train in extreme heat for police and military recruitment. However, inadequate hydration and improper exercise routines can lead to severe health risks, including heatstroke and dehydration. Dehydration and electrolyte imbalances in summer can lead to dizziness, fainting, and sudden drops in blood pressure. Overexertion in gyms, particularly heavy weightlifting beyond one’s capacity, can increase the risk of heart-related issues.

Commenting on this Mrinali Dwivedi, Consultant Nutritionist and Clinical Dietitian at Apex Group of Hospitals, Mumbai says,” With fitness trends on the rise, gyms remain crowded throughout the year. Many individuals continue intense cardio and weight training even in extreme summer heat. Without the right approach, this dedication can turn hazardous. Uncontrolled consumption of protein powders and supplements can put immense strain on the liver and kidneys. Rapid weight loss goals often drive people to over-exercise, putting unnecessary strain on muscles and increasing the risk of injuries. Overexertion can lead to muscle damage and even long-term health concerns.”

Mrinali Dwivedi further added, staying cool while exercising in summer is crucial. Avoid overtraining and ensure the body gets enough rest. Proper nutrition before and after workouts is essential. Prioritize natural protein sources and stay hydrated. Never ignore warning signs such as chest pain, dizziness, breathlessness, or a rapid heart rate during exercise. Continuing to work out despite these symptoms can be extremely dangerous.

Key Tips for Safe Summer Workouts

  • Start exercising early in the morning to avoid peak heat.
  • Stay well-hydrated throughout the day.
  • Wear lightweight and breathable clothing.
  • Avoid intense workouts between 12 PM and 4 PM.

Pre-Workout Nutrition for Safe Training

  • Opt for bananas, dry fruits, oats, or protein-rich food.
  • Maintain adequate hydration with water and electrolytes.
  • Avoid exercising on an empty stomach.

Uncovered Valve Chambers Increasing Risk of Accidents, Authorities Urged to Act

Kosagumuda: The uncovered valve chambers of the mega drinking water project on the main road of Taragaon Panchayat under Kosagumuda block in Nabarangpur district are increasing the risk of accidents. Despite repeated accidents, authorities have been accused of remaining silent.

In front of the homeopathic hospital in Taragaon, an open valve chamber without a cover has caused several injuries as patients and common people have fallen into it. There is also a risk of accidents as large and small vehicles may get trapped in the hole, especially at night.

Several villages, including Kotagaon, Bankuli, Bada Ambada, Kosagumuda, and Kusumi, have similar uncovered valve chambers along the roadsides. A few months ago, an accident near Kondapuri caused the death of a young man from Kodinga due to an uncovered valve chamber. Despite multiple reports in newspapers urging authorities to cover these chambers, no action has been taken.

Repeated accidents resulting in loss of lives have led to growing public dissatisfaction over the inaction of the concerned department. Residents are questioning whether the department will take responsibility for the livelihood of the families of the deceased. Due to the lack of foresight by officials and contractors, these valve chambers are being constructed overnight and left completely open, posing a serious danger.

Locals have expressed their frustration and are demanding immediate action to address the issue.

‘Joura Bachao is Not a Political Issue, It’s Odisha’s Concern,’ Says Leader

Kotpad: The time has come to fight not for politics, but for Odisha’s interests and its farmers. Addressing a press conference organized by the Joura Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, President Pankaj Kumar Patra, Vice President Balkrishna Bishoi, and Secretary Chinmay Kumar Shadangi stated this.

They alleged that while the Chhattisgarh government is diverting Joura’s water by constructing barrages, the Odisha government is extending its full cooperation, violating the 2003 agreement and harming Odisha’s interests. Only the Joura Bachao Sangharsh Samiti is actively protesting against this.

Currently, six panchayats in the Kotpad block are suffering from water scarcity, and agriculture has been severely affected. Despite the crisis, no one is responding, and the voices of Kotpad residents are being ignored. The Sangharsh Samiti has urged all political parties to visit the Joura river site and witness the ground reality.

The BJD was the first political party to visit the Joura river site and raise its voice on the issue. In response, the Sangharsh Samiti expressed gratitude to Opposition Leader Naveen Patnaik and all members of the delegation for their efforts.
