Saajha Sindoor Actress Neelu Vaghela: Bilingual Fluency a Big Advantage in the Industry on Hindi Diwas

Neelu Vaghela is one of the veterans of the Indian entertainment industry. The talented actress has become a household name with her awe-inspiring portrayals of various characters. Currently, she is winning hearts as Maa Hukum in Sun Neo’s show Saajha Sindoor. As we gear up to celebrate Hindi Diwas on 14th September, the actress opened up about the importance of the language, the challenges it poses, and how it has helped her career.

Neelu Vaghela

Neelu Vaghela shared, “Hindi is really important, especially if you’re in the entertainment industry and working in the Hindi film or TV space. I feel it’s essential to know how to read and speak Hindi properly. It helps a lot in connecting with the audience because when your grammar and pronunciation are on point, people enjoy listening to you. Your voice and the way you speak make a big impact. Moreover, if someone is fluent in both Hindi and English, it’s a huge advantage in the Indian television industry; even for OTT shows or films, knowing both languages helps a lot.”

She added, “Sometimes, for a role, I need to adopt a certain tone, like I have done for my Sun Neo show Saajha Sindoor, and naturally, it requires effort. But it’s easier for me because I know Hindi, English, Rajasthani, and I understand a bit of Gujarati. Living in Mumbai, I’ve also picked up Marathi, and all these languages really help in portraying a character better.”

Lastly, when asked if she has ever faced discrimination due to language, the Saajha Sindoor actress shared, “I’ve seen it happen, though it hasn’t been an issue for me personally. But for those who aren’t very comfortable with Hindi, maybe because they come from a different state, it can be tough. You can tell from their accent that they’re not as fluent, and they really have to struggle. If you want to work in the Hindi industry but don’t know the language well, it can be quite challenging.”

On the work front, Neelu Vaghela plays Maa Hukum, the grandmother of Gagan (played by Sahil Uppal). It is a strong and emotional role that Neelu Vaghela has been enjoying. Saajha Sindoor, airing on Sun Neo, stars Sahil Uppal, Stuti Vinkle, and Sangita Ghosh in pivotal roles. The show explores the complexities of relationships and the struggles of women in society, delving into themes of love, betrayal, and societal challenges. Tune into Sun Neo to watch Saajha Sindoor, every Monday to Saturday at 8 PM.

Commenting on this Dr. Maunil Ajay Bhuta, Chief Interventional Radiologist says, “The minimal invasive procedure (TEVAR- Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair) was performed for life threatening (impending rupture) huge thoracic aortic aneurysm, a rare condition.Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) is a minimally invasive procedure used to repair a thoracic aortic aneurysm or dissection. TEVAR is a minimally invasive alternative to open surgery and is associated with much shorter hospital stays and quicker recovery times. Aortic aneurysm is a pathological balloon-like bulge in the aorta (the main artery that carries blood from heart to the rest of the body). The 51-year-old woman was suffering from thoracic aortic aneurysm for the last few months. This condition was very critical and needed urgent treatment as it can be dangerous and life threatening. Hence she was advised an urgent TEVAR (Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm Repair) for the same which is an expensive state of the art treatment. Subsequently the financial sanctions were made by the Apex Hospital Management in coordination with ESIC.”

This surgery was successfully conducted by Dr. Maunil Ajay Bhuta (Interventional Radiologist) Dr. Vaibhav Shah (CVTS surgeon) and Dr. Sagar Yesale (Anesthetist) and the entire team with the patient getting discharged in the next few days with total symptomatic relief. The TEVAR procedure is very complex as the placement of the graft in the aorta must be very precise.
