Thrilling Finale Marks Conclusion of Chief Minister’s Football Cup

Umarkot – The Chief Minister’s Football Cup Tournament, organized for the first time in the state, concluded today after a successful eight-day run. The tournament, which started on Monday, April 7, and continued till April 15, was held at the Biju Patnaik Stadium in umarkot. It was organized under the management of the District Sports Association.

To ensure smooth coordination of the event, former state football player Sunil Kumar Mitra was actively involved. Thirteen football teams participated in the tournament. The final match took place at the B.S. Padar ground, where the B.S. Padar team emerged as champions with a convincing 3-0 victory. Player number 13 from B.S. Padar delivered an outstanding performance, drawing attention and admiration from the audience and selectors alike.

The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Shri Nityananda Gana, while today’s valedictory ceremony was graced by Nabarangpur’s Additional District Collector and Vice President of the District Sports Association, Bishwajit Charan. In his address, he encouraged the players to pursue sports as a career.

Other distinguished guests included MP representative Ram Nayak, District Sports Officer Sameer Kumar Patra, Executive Officer Alaj Kumar Anugulia, among others. The event was presided over by District Sports Association Secretary Prahlad Tripathy.

Also present were Vice President M. Balakrishna Rao, Hockey Secretary Durga Prasad Mallik, Athletics Secretary Krishna Prasad Pattnaik, District Women’s Sports Coordinator Engineer Chandana Mallik, Joint Secretary Melaj Pattnaik, District Cricket Secretary Shaishal Kumari Nayak, sports figures like Ashal Kumar Sahu, Shashank Sekhar Behera, Ravi Suna, Sapan Bairagi, Jashor Kumar Sil, Durjaya Harijan, and all members of the District Sports Association, who ensured smooth conduct of the tournament.

The Chief Minister’s Football Tournament is expected to benefit many talented athletes from the region. In recognition of the responsibility given for organizing such a sporting event, the District Sports Association expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister. Today’s prize distribution ceremony was anchored by Engineer Chandana Mallik.
