Jeypore: Concerns surrounding admissions at Kendriya Vidyalaya Jeypore have now been put to rest. District Collector V. Karthikeya Vasan has informed that the admission process will begin by the last week of April. The district administration has prepared a temporary campus to facilitate education for students enrolling for the 2025–26 academic year.
Officials from the district administration and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan jointly visited and assessed the temporary infrastructure.
For the permanent campus, the district administration has identified 8 acres of land near Jagannath Sagar, which has now been officially transferred to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The land transfer was completed on Tuesday in the presence of revenue officials and KVS authorities, following the directions of the state government and in line with official agreements.
During the land transfer, the Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya Koraput and the District Collector were present. Earlier, a high-voltage electric line running over the land had been relocated by the administration at a cost of ₹29 lakh.
Since the permanent infrastructure will take time to build, classes will temporarily begin in the Achievers Hostel building near Jeypore Government High School, which was previously used as a hostel. After the hostel was shifted to a new building in Phulbadi, this space was made available. The Kendriya Vidyalaya authorities will use this facility until the permanent campus is ready.
The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) has spent ₹45 lakh on renovating the temporary premises. Special attention has been given to safety measures and fire protection systems.
After years of waiting, the Central Government officially announced the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jeypore in December 2024, as declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With green signals now coming for admissions in the 2025–26 session, parents have expressed happiness. However, even three months after the announcement, the formal inauguration was delayed, raising concerns.
The 8-acre land has now been transferred to the KVS account, and the temporary setup is fully ready, as per the District Collector.
Following the announcement, a wave of happiness swept across Jeypore. Efforts for establishing the school were backed by Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati in the state assembly and Koraput MP Saptagiri Ulaka in Parliament. Many parents, caught between hope and uncertainty, had enrolled their children in other schools as a backup, yet remained hopeful and eager to apply to the Kendriya Vidyalaya.
