Critical Care Block Soon to Be Operational at Jeypore DHH

Jeypore, 30th July 2025: Patients in critical condition will no longer need to travel outside the state for treatment. They will soon receive advanced care at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) itself. A dedicated Critical Care Block (CCB) is currently under construction within the DHH premises.

Key Highlights of the Critical Care Block:

  • The block will include Operation Theaters (OT), Intensive Care Units (ICU), High Dependency Units (HDU), and Newborn Stabilization Units (NBSU).
  • It will be a 5-story (G+4) building with an estimated cost of ₹18 crore.
  • The facility will be equipped with modern infrastructure and trained specialists and staff.
  • The construction is expected to be completed by August 2024.

Facilities in the Building:

  • Ground Floor: OPD rooms, Fever Clinic, Emergency Ward with 4 beds, X-ray, Ultrasound, Isolation Ward (4 beds), lobby, injection & dressing rooms, toilets, and fire safety systems.
  • First Floor: 2 Isolation Rooms with 19 beds, Dialysis Plant, and a 3-bed general treatment room.
  • Second Floor: NBSU (4 beds), 10-bed Postnatal Ward, 5-bed Antenatal Ward, Donning & Doffing rooms, and toilets.
  • Third Floor: 9-bed ICU, 4 HDUs, biomedical & diagnostic labs, consultation centers, nursing station, therapeutic diet room, lift & lobby.
  • Fourth Floor: Operation Theaters, 2 Pre-op and 3 Post-op beds, spray anesthesia, biomedical & sterilization rooms, bed lift, and report waiting area.

Diseases Targeted:

  • The CCB will cater to patients suffering from:
  • Heart attacks, kidney failure, severe respiratory issues, accident trauma, complicated surgeries, sepsis, burn injuries, and more.

Implementing Agency:

  • The project is being executed by the National Project Construction Corporation (NPCC) under the Government of India.
    According to a senior official, the block will have 3 elevators, staircases on both sides, a bed lift system, and stringent fire safety measures.
  • The aim is to complete the project before the deadline, providing timely access to life-saving medical care within the district.
