Vietjet Secures Multi-Billion Dollar U.S. Partnerships, Expands Global Aviation Presence

Mumbai, Feb19 : Vietjet has signed multiple strategic agreements with leading U.S. corporations and financial institutions, with a combined value exceeding US$6.3 billion. The signings took place in Washington, D.C., in the presence of General Secretary To Lam and senior officials from both countries, underscoring the growing depth of Vietnam–U.S. economic and aviation cooperation.

The agreements mark a significant step in Vietjet’s long-term strategy to expand its global partnerships, strengthen financial capacity, and accelerate fleet modernization. The airline continues to deepen air connectivity globally and across the Asia–Pacific region, strengthening its footprint in key high-growth markets such as India.

US$5.4 Billion Engine and Maintenance Services Agreement

The airline signed a US$5.4 billion agreement with Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business and global leader in aircraft engines, for the selection of GTF™ engines and comprehensive maintenance services for 44 Airbus A321NEO and A321XLR aircraft.

The next-generation engines are designed to enhance fuel efficiency, reduce operating costs, and lower carbon emissions. The partnership supports Vietjet’s fleet expansion plans while aligning with its sustainable development and green transition strategy.

Boeing 737-8 Aircraft Financing Agreement

In a separate development, Vietjet signed an aircraft financing agreement with Griffin Global Asset Management to finance six Boeing 737-8 aircraft, valued at approximately US$965 million at list prices.

The agreement reflects Vietjet’s efforts to diversify international funding sources and enhance its capital structure in line with global financial standards. Strengthening access to competitive global financing is expected to support the airline’s continued growth and operational expansion.

With a combined value exceeding US$6.3 billion, the agreements carry importance beyond their commercial impact. They support deeper collaboration in technology and finance, contribute to job creation, and strengthen value chain integration between the two economies.
