Three Waterfalls Allegedly Overlooked by Administration

Kalyansinghpur, Dec, 30:  In the foothills of the famous Niyamgiri mountains in Kalyansinghpur block, near Karanja village of Singari Panchayat, there are three waterfalls that have largely remained neglected by the administration.

From Kalyansinghpur, after traveling 3 km along the road connecting Kalahandi district’s Lanjigarh block, and then 4 km from Ghundiriguda village towards the right, one reaches Karanja village. Along this road, about 3 km before reaching the village, the three waterfalls can be found.

According to local residents Trinath Hikka, Mohendra Bhatria, and Gopal Kurudia, the waterfalls have huge pools below them, with water levels reaching 20 feet during the rainy season and 6 feet in the dry season. These perennial waterfalls are formed by the continuous flow of water from the Karanja stream, which originates from Niyamgiri.
The natural surroundings are very scenic, and tourists visiting the area are mesmerized by the beauty of the place. However, these three waterfalls, located amidst dense forested hills, remain neglected and poorly maintained.

Earlier, a road had been constructed through the Karanja village forest by JK Paper to transport bamboo, but this road is now in a dilapidated condition. Therefore, the villagers are demanding that the district administration take notice, construct a proper road to access the waterfalls, and promote the development of the surrounding area
