Kendrapara Authorities Hold Disaster Preparedness Meeting

Kendrapara: A disaster preparedness meeting was held at Sadbhavana Hall in the office of the District Collector of Kendrapara, organized by OSDMA (Odisha State Disaster Management Authority).

The meeting was attended by District DPO Ajay Kumar Mahanti, Shridhar Shekhar Acharya, and Executive Director of OSDMA Tanmaya Jena.

As Kendrapara is a disaster-prone district, the discussion focused on how people can coordinate and protect themselves before, during, and after disasters. It was decided that starting tomorrow, mock drills will be conducted in all 127 OSDMA centers of the district to educate and train the public in disaster management techniques.

Personnel from NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), Fire Services, and Civil Defense will participate in these drills, according to sources.

Vikas Rath Campaign Reaches Every Ward in Kotpad NAC

Kotpad: Under the initiative of the Kotpad Notified Area Council (NAC), a Vikas Rath (Development Vehicle) campaign began on 14th June, moving through all wards—from Ward No. 1 to Ward No. 13—and covering key junctions and localities.

The campaign was led by Kotpad NAC Executive Officer Kamalesh Mahanti, Chairperson M. Shankar Rao, Treasurer Prashanu Kachim, Head Clerk Gopi Majhi, along with K. Ramesh, Rajesh Chetti, and others. The event witnessed active participation from Swachh Sathis, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, SHG (Self-Help Group) women members, and all staff of Kotpad NAC.

Organized on the occasion of the completion of one year of the current government, the Vikas Rath highlighted various developmental works and flagship government schemes. The campaign involved door-to-door visits across all wards of the notified area, aiming to create awareness among beneficiaries about the different welfare schemes introduced by the BJP-led government.

During these visits, interactions were held with beneficiaries, and informational booklets on government schemes were distributed to help locals better understand and benefit from the programs.

In today’s event, Gopi Majhi, Rajesh Chetti, K. Ramesh, and several Swachh Sathis were present and extended their full support, contributing to the success of the program.

Colorful Cultural Program Marks Vikas Mela Celebration in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur,: On 14th June 2025, the district-level Vikas Mela was inaugurated at the local Mandei Padia by Hon’ble Minister of Steel & Mines, Commerce & Transport Mr. Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, who attended as the chief guest.

As part of the Vikas Mela celebrations, cultural programs are being held every evening on the Mandei Padia stage. On the inaugural evening, performances were presented by:

Red Team Clinches Victory in Nabarangpur Inter-School Cricket Tournament

Nabarangpur:  Under the auspices of the District Cricket Association, the final match of the Inter-School Cricket Tournament was held at the local stadium premises. In the final, the Red Combined School Team defeated the Green Combined School Team by 10 runs, emerging as the champions.

Batting first, the Red Combined School Team scored 214 runs in 31.5 overs, losing all wickets. In reply, the Green Combined School Team played the allotted 40 overs, scoring 204 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

Yuvraj Paik of the Red Combined School Team was declared Man of the Match for his all-round performance—scoring 32 runs with the bat and taking 2 wickets with the ball.

During the closing ceremony, District Cricket Association Secretary Prahlad Tripathy, as the chief guest, stated that this tournament was organized with the vision of nurturing hidden talents for Odisha Cricket Association’s 2030 roadmap.

Joint Secretary M. Bala Krishna Rao, as the guest of honor, expressed that many talents had been identified through this tournament. Association President Debashis Pattnaik and Vice President Shubhendu Behera extended their best wishes to the players.

The tournament was smoothly managed by senior association members Ashok Nayak, Shashank Shekhar Behera, District Cricket Coach G. Chandrasekhar, and Curator Durjay Harijan.

From the 4 teams that participated, a 30-member probable players list was sent by the Odisha Cricket Association to the Nabarangpur Cricket Association. Based on their performance, two teams were formed and matches were conducted. After these, a final 15-member Nabarangpur District Cricket Team will be announced, as informed by the Cricket Association’s media coordinator Manoj Kumar Pattnaik.

Tribal Communities Showcase Culture at District-Level Vikas Mela

Nabarangpur  On the fourth day of the ongoing district-level Vikas Mela, a tribal gathering was organized by the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Nabarangpur.

The chief guest of the program was Biranchi Narayan Darwan, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, who interacted with several tribal beneficiaries. These beneficiaries have received assistance under various schemes of the department.

Rajeev Sahu, ITDA Project Administrator, was also present during the event. The gathering featured discussions on several key initiatives including:

Forest Rights Act awareness

Distribution of land title deeds (patta)

On this occasion, the District Welfare Department presented detailed information related to educational assistance for tribal students and the Chief Minister’s Tribal Livelihood Mission. A PowerPoint presentation was made on this mission to raise awareness among attendees about its objectives and benefits.

The highlight of the program was the distribution of FRA (Forest Rights Act) titles to 223 individual beneficiaries from Jharigaon block, a significant step in securing land rights for tribal communities.

This tribal gathering effectively raised awareness about the National Excellence Rural Campaign, which is currently being implemented in 536 villages of the district. The campaign aims to ensure complete documentation and inclusion in schemes like:
