Inside the Beta Test That Could Reshape How Architects Work

Delhi NCR, July 21, 2025: On the surface, it looks like a new design studio taking shape in Gurgaon. But step inside, and it’s clear this isn’t just another co-working space for architects. The tables are covered with real material samples, walls are lined with curated catalogues, and small teams are quietly huddled in review rooms. There’s no launch signage, not much social media blitz, just a slow and steady stream of professionals testing what might soon become a new standard in architectural workflows. Welcome to the beta phase of the Knowledge Center’s One-Day Design Lab.

Now in soft launch, the One-Day Design Lab is being quietly tested by select architecture studios, real estate developers, and design educators, just before it opens to the wider industry. The idea is simple: to compress what normally takes weeks—material selection, catalogue browsing, technical clarifications, and client approvals—into a single working day.

At the heart of the Lab are five interconnected spaces, designed to eliminate friction from every stage of the design workflow. The Material Library enables architects and clients to physically touch, compare, and evaluate finishes in real-time, with no vendor delays or guesswork from a screen. Alongside it, the Catalogue Library offers a streamlined, updated collection of product information from across the industry, replacing scattered PDFs and email chains. The Reference Library goes deeper, providing access to working drawings, legal references, case studies, and construction details for real-world grounding. In between, the Networking Café facilitates relaxed, productive interactions among designers, vendors, clients, and collaborators. And when it’s time to present, align, or make decisions, the Conference Rooms offer a fully equipped environment designed for serious decision-making. This isn’t a showroom. And it’s far from a casual lounge.

The One-Day Design Lab is a purpose-built ecosystem that enables architects and project teams to transition seamlessly from exploration to execution without leaving the building. In the last few weeks, design studios have utilised the space to host material walkthroughs, finalise client selections, and align vendor deliverables—tasks that would typically span multiple platforms, meetings, and missed calls.

Ankur Jain, CEO and founder of the Knowledge Center, says, “We’re calling it a beta, but it’s already working. We’re observing how people use the space—what triggers momentum, where friction still exists, so that we launch something truly useful, not just exciting. Initial reactions from those invited into the beta have been overwhelmingly positive. Designers appreciate the pace at which clients make decisions when the right tools are readily available. Builders have begun exploring it as a neutral zone to bring all stakeholders together. Even educators have enquired about using the format for hands-on critique sessions and live industry exposure.”

In the coming weeks, KC will roll out a digital prep tool to help teams plan their sessions remotely, shortlisting materials, references, and brand catalogues in advance. A flexible membership model is also being shaped, allowing studios, consultants, and project heads to use the space on demand.

For now, the remains in quiet preview mode. But if the early response is any indication, it won’t stay that way for long. A new way of working, grounded, tactile, and remarkably efficient, is about to become official.

Techjockey Commits AED 1 Million to UAE Market Entry, Aims to Simplify Software Buying for Middle Eastern Businesses

National, India – July 21, 2025: In a strategic move to strengthen its global footprint, Techjockey.com, India’s largest B2B software discovery and eCommerce platform, has announced its official launch in the United Arab Emirates, backed by a planned investment of AED 1 million over the next 18 months. The expansion aims to accelerate software adoption among small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) across the UAE and the broader Middle East region.

Techjockey’s UAE entry comes at a time when the country is positioning itself as a leader in the digital economy in the region. According to PwC, the UAE’s digital economy is expected to contribute over AED 140 billion to GDP by 2031, with digital infrastructure, cloud platforms, and SaaS playing a central role.

“The UAE has become a magnet for digital innovation, with SMEs actively looking for smarter technology tools to drive growth,” said Akash Nangia, Co-Founder, Techjockey. “Our AED 1 million investment signals a deep commitment to this market. We’re here to make software discovery smarter, faster, and more accessible, backed by local teams, regional language support, and trusted buying guidance.”

The company plans to hire an experienced UAE-based team across sales, partnerships, and customer success within the next 12 months. It will also introduce localised pricing, customer support, and AI-driven software matchmaking to provide tailored recommendations for businesses in the region.

“Software buying is often an overwhelming and time-consuming task, especially for businesses without internal IT teams,” said Arjun Mittal, Co-Founder, Techjockey. “We’ve built a platform that simplifies this process end-to-end—from need assessment and vendor comparison to purchase and onboarding.”

Techjockey aims to onboard 500+ regional software vendors and resellers by 2026, providing them with a scalable go-to-market channel that requires minimal upfront investment. The platform will also host verified user reviews and offer real-time consultations to help buyers cut through the clutter and select software that aligns with their business goals.

According to IDC, 68% of SMBs in the Middle East cite difficulty in software procurement due to a lack of standardised information, local support, and time to evaluate options.

Techjockey seeks to fill this gap by offering a hybrid model that blends automation with human expertise.

“By anchoring our operations in the UAE, we’re not just entering a new market, we’re contributing to a regional shift toward smarter digital adoption,” Nangia added. “We are excited to be a catalyst for both local business growth and global vendor expansion in the Middle East.”

Techjockey UAE operations will be headquartered in Dubai, with regional scaling planned across other GCC markets in the coming years.

India houses more than half of the world’s GCCs – Vestian

New Delhi, 21st July 2025: Global Capability Centers (GCCs) have evolved significantly since their emergence in the 1990s, as companies began leveraging offshore locations for cost-efficient operations and a skilled workforce. From initial focus on IT support and back-office services, GCCs have now become hubs for innovation, research, and development. This transition resulted in a significant increase in the number of GCCs around the world, reaching approximately 3,200 centers. Currently, India houses nearly 1,700 GCCs spread across Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities, accounting for around 53% of the total number of GCCs worldwide. The top six cities, such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, NCR, Mumbai, and Pune, account for 94% of the total number of GCCs in India. The rest are spread across Kolkata, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Vadodara, Nashik, Trivandrum, Jodhpur, Warangal, Baroda, Visakhapatnam, Bhogapuram, Jaipur, Surat, Mohali, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Mysuru, Madurai, and Bhopal.

While Tier-1 cities continue to lead in terms of GCC presence, the momentum is gradually shifting towards Tier-2 cities. This shift is further bolstered by the Union Budget 2025, that proposes a national framework to facilitate the expansion of GCCs into emerging Tier-2 locations. This geographical diversification is expected to drive a substantial increase in the number of GCCs nationwide. According to Vestian Research, the total number of GCCs in India is projected to exceed 2,100 by FY 2028, growing at a CAGR of 8%. On average, approximately 150 new centers are expected to be established annually.

The IT-ITeS sector leads the GCC landscape in India, accounting for approximately  49% of the total number of GCCs nationwide. It is followed by the BFSI sector which holds a  17% share. Collectively, the Healthcare & Lifesciences, Engineering & Manufacturing, Consulting Services, and Telecom & Media sectors contribute around 19% to the overall number of GCCs in India.

Shrinivas Rao, FRICS, CEO, Vestian said, “India’s leading office markets continue to offer a compelling value proposition to GCCs, characterized by competitive costs, a highly skilled workforce, robust infrastructure, progressive policy incentives, and a conducive business environment. However, selecting the right location remains critical to the long-term success of any GCC. Vestian’s GCC Market Entry Index serves as a strategic tool to support companies in identifying optimal locations that align with their business objectives.”

City-wise Analysis

  • Bengaluru houses 487 GCCs spread across various industries, the highest among major cities in India. The city accounts for 29% of the total number of GCCs in the country.
  • With the presence of 273 GCCs from across the globe, Hyderabad has emerged as the  fastest-growing GCC hub in the country. It hosts 16% of the total GCCs present in the country, the second highest amongst the top six cities.
  • The NCR region houses 272 GCCs, accounting for 16% of the total GCCs in the country. Its strategic location, proximity to government institutions, and robust infrastructure attract several global companies to establish GCC operations.

  • Pune has emerged as a major GCC hub with the presence of 178 GCCs from across the world, accounting for 11% of the total GCCs in the country.
  • Chennai is one of the fastest-growing GCC hubs in India, with the presence of 162 GCCs, accounting for around 10% of the total number of GCCs in the country.
