No Deception This Year, Says Mousumi: Southwest Monsoon Arrives on Time

During the rainy season, the monsoon will affect Odisha, and in June, there will be higher-than-usual rainfall in the coastal, northern, and southern parts of Odisha. The rainfall in these areas might be more significant. However, in July and August, the coastal and northern regions of Odisha—such as Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Bhadrak, Yajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Kendujhar, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, and Anugul districts—may experience normal or slightly lower rainfall. In September, it is expected that there will be good rainfall in southern Odisha, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Regarding long-term rainfall predictions, IMD Director Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that from December to February/March, the Northern Hemisphere and the Eurasian region will have a less active monsoon, which will positively influence the southwest monsoon due to reduced snow cover in the Eurasian region, leading to higher-than-usual monsoon rainfall.
