Turkish Airlines Takes Off to Santiago, Chile, Marking its 26th Destination in the Americas

Bengaluru, 21 September 2024: Turkish Airlines, the flag carrier of Türkiye, has announced it will soon connect its global network to the vibrant culture and captivating landscapes of Santiago, Chile. This new route marks the airline’s 10th country served in the Americas.

Starting 18 December 2024, Turkish Airlines will launch four weekly flights from Istanbul to Santiago, with a stopover in Sao Paulo in both directions. This new route brings the total number of destinations served in the Americas to 26, further solidifying Turkish Airlines’ presence in the region. IHCL Signs a Ginger and a Vivanta Hotel in Hosur, Tamil Nadu

Anuj Prasad’s Solo Exhibition: A Journey into Mystic Miniatures

Designer Anuj Prasad unveiled his captivating solo exhibition, “Mystic Miniatures,” at the Visual Art Gallery, Indian Habitat Centre (IHC) on September 19, 2024. The exhibition is on until September 25th, 2024. The opening was graced by Padma Bhushan Awardee, Author and Co-founder of HCL, Mr. Ajai Chowdhry. An array of 150 mystic artworks in mixed medium, ink, watercolour and oil transported viewers into a realm of intricate artistry and profound contemplation.

Prasad, a distinguished designer and co-founder of Desmania, a leading design company in India, has dedicated himself to the exploration of art alongside his professional pursuits. On the occasion, Prasad shared his thoughts as, “Mysticism comes very naturally to me. Introspection and inward journeys intrigue me and so these paintings are based on mystic thoughts relating to exactly that. The expression is intuitive. It’s something out of nothing. The style of art is intricate details in minutest forms. Mystic Miniatures is my attempt to provide an opportunity for viewers to immerse themselves in the spiritual and meditative verse.” He further added, “My artworks aim to help them seek what lies within them rather than searching for it outside. The use of colors, textures, and fluidity is meant to evoke a sense of tranquility and introspection.”

The exhibition showcased Prasad’s latest collection, a fresh and innovative approach to art that he has developed over the past seven years. Each artwork is a meticulously crafted miniature, teeming with intricate lines, shapes, and vibrant colors. The designer’s keen eye for detail and his profound appreciation for nature’s finer aspects are evident in every stroke.

Dr. Santosh G. Honavar and Dr. Gullapalli N. Rao, two Ophthalmologists from Hyderabad Top the Stanford List of Researchers in Ophthalmology in India

Hyderabad and New Delhi, September 21, 2024……Dr. Santosh G. Honavar, the Honorary Secretary of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), Director of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery and Ocular Oncology at the Centre for Sight Eye Hospital, Hyderabad, former Associate Director of LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, and the past Editor of the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology, has yet again claimed the top spot among researchers in Ophthalmology in India for the fourth consecutive year. The rankings for the year 2024 were announced by a panel of experts from Stanford University and Elsevier, featuring the top 2% of researchers globally, based on the impact of their work in 2023.

Dr. Honavar is an internationally renowned ophthalmologist with expertise in eye cancers, and his illustrious career has earned him accolades such as the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award from the Government of India and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is the sole ophthalmologist from the Indian subcontinent to receive the Honorary Fellowship, the highest honour bestowed by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in the UK. Dr. Santosh G. Honavar also holds the second position in the Stanford List based on his lifelong contributions to the field. He has over 15000 citations and a high H-index of 66.

Heading the list of researchers in ophthalmology in India for career-long impact is Dr. Gullapalli N. Rao, the Founder-Chairman of LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. Dr. Rao, a highly esteemed ophthalmologist in India, has been honoured with the Padma Shri for his outstanding achievements. Additionally, he has served as the former Secretary-General and Chair of the Board of the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness, playing a pivotal role in the global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness. Dr. Rao has also been inducted into the Ophthalmology Hall of Fame by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Samar Basak the President of AIOS, extended his congratulations to the Indian researchers featured in the Stanford list. He highlighted AIOS’s commitment to promoting Indian research through its Journals, scientific activities, and research as part of the Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to support and nurture the research potential of Indian ophthalmologists.
