Jeypore: To seek the eviction of illegal encroachments on government land, Umeri Sarpanch Sabita Nayak approached Koraput District Collector V. Kirvee Vasan today. She submitted a memorandum requesting administrative action.
According to the memorandum, certain land near the main gate of the Swaminathan Research Institute in Makaput village, under Umeri Gram Panchayat, has been illegally occupied by several individuals. The Panchayat had planned to construct a library and a shopping complex on this land.
However, despite repeated warnings, some individuals have built boundary walls and encroached upon the land from all sides, which is now delaying the construction of the proposed library and shops.
Hence, the Sarpanch has urged the administration to take immediate steps to evict the encroachers and hand over the land to the Panchayat for public development purposes.
