Bhubaneswar: The state government will launch the ‘Vikashit Gaon, Vikashit Odisha’ scheme from the 5th of this month. The program will be inaugurated in Jankia, Khordha district. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister, Members of Parliament, and other dignitaries, will be present at the event. Additionally, representatives from all districts and blocks will join virtually.
Development plans for villages will be prepared as per Gram Sabha resolutions. No development work will be carried out in villages without Gram Sabha approval. A blueprint for the next five years of village development will be drafted through Gram Sabhas. By February 14, the Gram Sabha will finalize the project list, and by the 15th, each Panchayat will submit its village project list at the block level. By the 18th, the Panchayat Samiti’s subject committee will complete its review of the proposals.
Out of the total budget, 40% or ₹400 crore will be allocated to blocks under the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA). Out of 314 blocks in the state, 121 are under ITDA jurisdiction. These 121 blocks will receive ₹400 crore, while the remaining 193 blocks will be allocated ₹600 crore. The funds will be used for constructing concrete and paver block roads. Additionally, drains will be built in villages as required. A total of 35% of the Panchayat’s allotted funds will be spent on road construction.
