Umarkote: On Monday morning at 8:00 AM, Tathagata Nayak, a Class 10 student of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya in Dabugaan, Jharigam block of Nabarangpur district, was felicitated for his outstanding performance. He secured 93% marks in the recent Class 10 board exams, earning the first position in Dabugaan.
Tathagata is the son of Rajendra Nayak, who has been working for the last 30 years as a cook (Enamar – Rozgar Sevak) at the Dabugaan Kanya Ashram. Despite his long years of service, he has neither been appointed as a fourth-grade employee nor regularized by the government. The family survives on his daily wages.
Even under such hardship, he has managed to educate his son with dedication.
Recognizing this achievement, Odisha’s Minister of School & Mass Education, SC & ST Development, and Backward Classes Welfare – Nityananda Gond – personally felicitated the student by presenting him with a traditional uttariya (shawl of honor).
Present at the event were Minister’s representative Ashesh Shoka Kumar Padhi, District Utkal Yadav Mahasabha Secretary Parshuram Nayak, and Rajendra Nayak, the proud father.
