Summer Camp Inaugurated for Inmates of Child Care Institutions in Malkangiri

Malkangiri A summer camp for the inmates of child care institutions (CCI) in Malkangiri was inaugurated on Friday. The Chief Guest of the event, District Superintendent of Police Akshak Vinod Patil, officially inaugurated the camp. In his address, he emphasized that “Today’s children are the golden citizens of tomorrow. If children smile, the world smiles. Every child must contribute to the nation-building process in the future.”

The five-day camp has been organized by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and the District Administration of Malkangiri. It brings together children from all the CCIs across the district. The event is being held at the Ekalavya Model Residential School’s Auditorium in Champanagar.

More than 100 children from four CCIs along with over 40 officials and staff are participating in this residential camp. The goal of the camp is to ensure the overall development of the children, including character building, skill enhancement, and personality development, so that they can be active contributors to the mainstream of society.

The inaugural session was chaired by District Child Protection Officer Narayan Das, with SP Vinod Patil as the Chief Guest, Additional District Magistrate Somanath Pradhan as the keynote speaker, and the Chairman of the District Child Welfare Committee as the Guest of Honour.

The dignitaries encouraged the children to grow up into responsible citizens and highlighted values such as patience, discipline, time management, strong determination, moral conduct, and skill development.

During the 5-day camp, the children will receive training in:

Handicrafts and handloom preparation

Singing and dancing

Modern painting

Debate skills

Archery

Judo and martial arts

Mountaineering training

To facilitate these activities, experienced trainers from Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur districts have been brought in by the district administration.

Mrs. Sanyukta Pradhan, District Social Welfare Officer, and Mrs. Indira Pradhan, Child Protection Officer, also joined the event. They motivated the children to build strong character, engage in hard work, and abide by the laws framed by the government with due respect and discipline.
