Bhubaneswar From now on, students in government schools will be taught in a more engaging and innovative style. Lessons will be designed in such a way that students are naturally drawn to attend classes regularly. More emphasis will be placed on reducing dropout rates and improving overall school management.
With this vision, the School and Mass Education Department has initiated skill development training for headmasters of government high schools and principals of upper secondary schools. The training is being provided by the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, and spans 5 days. Currently, two groups of headmasters are undergoing this training.
In a phased manner, 100 headmasters have already completed their training. Now, a new group of 50 headmasters will go to IIM Ahmedabad starting from the 9th of this month, and the training will continue till the 13th. After completing this training, these trained headmasters will also train the headmasters of nearby schools.
The focus areas of the training include:
Increasing student attendance
Ensuring quality education
Promoting digital learning
Effective library management
Making the learning process more engaging for students
Speaking to the media, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond stated that the state government is committed to strengthening school education. To attract both students and parents to government schools, the department is organizing such capacity-building training programs.
