Kotpad, May 29: Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the membership and voting process of the Jeypore Sub-Divisional Sports Association, a major breakthrough has been achieved.

On December 28 last year, the Odia daily newspaper Sambad published a report titled “Kotpad Neglected in the Sub-Divisional Athletic Association.” The report highlighted that sports associations from Kotpad, Boipariguda, and Kundra blocks were allegedly excluded from the membership process and deprived of voting rights.

Based on this report, human rights activist advocate Anup Patra lodged a complaint through Twitter to the RDC and the Sports Department.

Taking the matter seriously, the Southern RDC issued a directive (Letter No. 464 dated 20.05.2026) to the Koraput District Administration. The order instructed that all sports associations in the subdivision must be registered as members and that no organization should be deprived of voting rights.

The RDC also directed the District Collector to inform the concerned block and NAC officials regarding the matter.
The efforts of Sambad and the human rights activist have been widely appreciated in sports circles.
