Ghasipura Hundreds of residents of Natia village under Samukanendi Panchayat have submitted a memorandum to the District Collector demanding electricity connection for their village. Over 400 families reside in the village. Due to the absence of electricity connection till now, the villagers are living in a very pitiable condition.
While children are dependent on oil lamps for studying, the elderly, newborns, and the sick are facing severe hardships in their daily lives. Beneficiaries associated with various government schemes are also compelled to rely on the nearby village Batasahi to charge their mobile phones. Despite repeated complaints, in 2019 the government had provided 80 solar lights. However, due to a lack of proper maintenance, these lights have now become non-functional. Although Natia village is located just 1 kilometer away from Batasahi, where electricity connection is available, it has still not been extended to Natia, creating widespread dissatisfaction among the villagers.
Despite numerous complaints by the villagers, departmental authorities have remained indifferent, causing further frustration among the public. It is reported that along with the written complaint to the District Collector of Keonjhar, a copy has also been sent to the concerned departmental engineer. The villagers, through representatives like Krishna Naik, Sarat Naik, Anil Pingua, Salkhu Pingua, Dambarudhar Darar, Subash Chandra Pingua, Govinda Hembram, Raisen Hembram, Purna Hembram, Mangulu Hembram, Janum Sing Pingua, and Birendra Darar, along with hundreds of others, have urged the District Collector of Keonjhar to take necessary action regarding the issue.
