Malkangiri District Labour Day Celebration Marks Distribution of rs 1.63 Crore Assistance by Collector to Beneficiaries

Malkangiri , May 13:  The International Labour Day celebration was observed with grandeur at the local Culture Bhavan premises in Malkangiri under the joint initiative of the district administration and the Labour Office.
District Collector Prathmesh Arvind Rajsirkhe attended the programme as the chief guest and praised the dedication, sacrifice, and hard work of labourers. In his address, he stated that workers are the real builders of society and emphasized that ensuring their welfare and social security remains a top priority for the district administration. He also said that efforts are continuously being made to ensure government welfare schemes reach every eligible family.
Among others present on the dais were Special Development Council Chairman Gangadhar Sodi, Vice-Chairperson Sabitri Padiami, MP representative Sanjay Sarkar, Municipality Vice-Chairperson Kabita Mohanty, Additional District Magistrate Bedabar Pradhan, and Sub-Collector Duryodhan Bhoi.
On the occasion, financial assistance amounting to ₹1 crore 63 lakh 27 thousand 200 was distributed among 323 beneficiaries under the Construction Workers Welfare Scheme. This included marriage assistance for 33 beneficiaries worth ₹16.50 lakh, death assistance for 44 beneficiaries amounting to ₹1.26 crore, funeral assistance for 44 beneficiaries worth ₹2.20 lakh, educational assistance for 184 beneficiaries amounting to ₹16.77 lakh, and maternity assistance for 18 beneficiaries worth ₹1.80 lakh.
Additionally, 100 workers were provided with new identity cards, while the Unorganized Workers Social Security Board extended assistance of ₹20 lakh to 10 beneficiaries. More than 550 labourers, trade union members, and labour department officials participated in the grand celebration.
