Kotpad Residents Concerned as Cattle Owners Leave Cows Roaming on Public Roads

Kotpad In Kotpad town, it has become a routine sight to find domesticated cattle roaming the roads. The national highway and various alleyways across neighborhoods have practically turned into shelters for stray animals. Wherever one looks in the town, cows can be seen standing or lying around.

After extracting milk from their cows, many cattle owners are reportedly abandoning the animals on the roads. As a result, these stray cows often cause accidents, sometimes even claiming human lives alongside the livestock.

Despite repeated complaints and attention drawn towards this issue — from the Executive Officer of the Notified Area Council to the Council Chairperson — no concrete action has been taken so far, allege local residents.

The national highway connecting Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to Chhattisgarh sees thousands of heavy and light vehicles passing daily. This vital road has now effectively turned into a shelter for stray cattle, leading to frequent traffic congestion.

Due to the administration’s lack of attention to the matter, public dissatisfaction is growing. It is also noted that the town lacks a proper cattle shelter (kanji house), which has led to deliberate and blatant violation of rules by cattle owners.

There is a growing public demand for the administration to take notice of the situation and initiate immediate remedial action.
