Nabarangpur: A public awareness campaign titled “Say No to Alcohol, Yes to Life” is ongoing from May 31 to July 26. As part of the campaign, the Nabarangpur Excise Department, in collaboration with the Regional Transport Department, is spreading awareness against reckless driving under the influence of alcohol.
On Tuesday, the campaign was launched near the local medical road and the Excise Office, where messages were delivered against driving after consuming intoxicants and not wearing helmets or seat belts.
As part of the initiative, authorities stopped individuals who were driving under the influence or without safety gear and created awareness among them. A lottery was conducted using the numbers of 50 such vehicles, and 5 selected individuals were awarded helmets.
Excise Superintendent Prabhas Kumar Das stated that the helmets were distributed to encourage safe driving. Officials and staff from the Excise Department, along with the general public, participated in the awareness event.
