Kotpad,Sept 28 [UDN}:: The Mahisha Marddini Sangha of Belama Sahi in Kotpad organised a special programme to confer posthumous honours on 46 artists who had made significant contributions to theatre and cultural activities in the region. The event also featured a cultural programme.
The programme was attended by Kotpad MLA Rupu Bhatra as the chief guest, along with PCC Secretary Anam Dian, Municipal Chairperson M. Shankar Rao, Bar Association President Mani Prasad Pattnaik, Press Club President Pankaj Kumar Patra, Manohar BisoI and Ganesh Panda, among others.
The organisers said several artists who had earned recognition by performing dramas across Koraput district and different parts of Odisha are no longer alive. In recognition of their contribution to theatre and cultural activities, 46 deceased artists who had participated in the drama were posthumously honoured.
The guests presented citation certificates and trophies to members of the respective families of the deceased artists.
The programme was organised under the supervision of Sangha President Bighna Nayak and conducted by Hemanta Patra. The cultural segment witnessed devotional dance performances by young students, adding a special dimension to the event.
The cultural programme was coordinated by Priyadarshini Rath of Priya Group.
The organisers highlighted the importance of remembering artists whose dedication and performances contributed to the growth and preservation of Kotpad’s theatrical and cultural heritage.
