Koraput: The state-level World Environment Day celebration was held at the Agricultural Education Auditorium of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar. During this event, many government schools and Gram Sabhas from across the state were recognized.
As part of the celebration, five government schools from Koraput district, along with two Gram Sabhas from different blocks, were honored with the ‘Prakriti Mitra’ (Friend of Nature) Award by the State Government.
The awarded institutions include:
Ekamba Government High School from Jeypore Block
R. Bhaluguda Upper Primary School from Baipariguda Block
Manabar High School from Koraput Block
Chitraguda Upper Primary School from Kotpad Block, where Headmistress Sunita Kumari Nayak received the award
Pradhaniput Primary School from Kundura Block, along with its head teacher
Additionally, the Gram Sabhas of Mulashankar in Patangi Block and Majhiput in Semiliguda Block were recognized for their environmental efforts.
From Ekamba High School, head teacher B. Nalini Kumar, and from Manabar High School, headmistress Meena Kumari Swain, personally received the Prakriti Mitra award from Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia.
The state-level celebration was graced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi as the chief guest, along with Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrata Sahu, and several other senior departmental officials.
