Explosion in Sukma’s Konta Claims Life of Additional SP Akash Rao

Sukma An IED explosion occurred in Konta, located in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. The blast, triggered by a landmine planted by Naxals, resulted in the martyrdom of Additional SP Akash Rao Girpunje. The TI (Town Inspector) of Konta Police Station and the SDPO (Sub-Divisional Police Officer) also sustained injuries in the incident.

This tragic event happened during a routine patrolling operation by the security forces. Following the martyrdom of Akash Rao Girpunje, a wave of grief swept across the entire police department. A high-alert combing operation has been launched in the area.

The police team was out on patrol in the Erabore area of Konta, Sukma, when the explosion took place. The patrol included Additional SP Akash Rao, the Konta Police Station In-Charge, and the SDPO. During the patrol, an IED planted by Maoists suddenly detonated, severely injuring Akash Rao.

Another jawan and officer were also injured in the explosion. All injured personnel were rescued and rushed to medical care. Unfortunately, Additional SP Akash Rao Girpunje succumbed to his injuries while under treatment.

In the aftermath, security forces have intensified search operations in the region to flush out the perpetrators and ensure stability.
