Sambalpur: The Durgapali Level Crossing near Lakshmidunguri has been closed following the commissioning of a railway overbridge in the area. However, the absence of an approach road to the overbridge from Burla side has led to dissatisfaction among commuters.
Currently, there is no proper road crossing near the Lakshmidunguri junction close to the bridge. As a result, people coming from Burla side are being forced to travel via the Indal railway line at Lakshmidunguripada to cross over, which is about 1.5 to 2 kilometers longer than the previous route.
Previously, despite the lack of a barrier gate, locals were using the old level crossing route to commute. For people traveling from the municipal office to Lakshmidunguri junction, the level crossing was a convenient and direct path.
With the sudden closure of the level crossing by the railway authorities, many commuters have expressed disappointment and frustration.
