District-Level Preparatory Meeting Held in Nabarangpur to Ensure Grand and Dignified Celebration of the 80th Independence Day Across the District

Nabarangpur:Aug 5 [UDN}: A district-level preparatory meeting was held in Nabarangpur to review arrangements for the grand celebration of the 80th Independence Day-2026. The meeting took place at the Mission Shakti Conference Hall under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Partha Jagadish Kashyap, Additional District Magistrate (General) Dr. Pramod Kumar Prusti, Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Biswajit Chandra Barman, representative of the Nabarangpur MLA Suresh Shastri, Municipal Chairperson Kunu Nayak, Chief Development Officer of Zilla Parishad Biranchi Narayan Darwan, Additional Superintendent of Police S. Diga, Sub-Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, officials from various educational institutions, departmental officers associated with the Independence Day celebrations, representatives of different organizations, eminent citizens, and members of the media.
District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Kumar Behera presented the detailed programme schedule for the celebrations.
As per the schedule, Ram Dhun will be performed by the Information and Public Relations Department at 4:30 a.m. on Independence Day. At 7:00 a.m., floral tributes will be paid to statues of eminent national leaders across the town. This will be followed by National Flag hoisting at 7:30 a.m. in all government and private institutions, along with the main ceremonial programme at the district stadium.
The meeting also reviewed preparations related to:
Cleaning and beautification of the stadium and statue sites.
Traffic management and maintenance of law and order.
Parade rehearsals and the main ceremonial parade.
Distribution of fruits and sweets.
Conduct of various competitions.
Fire safety arrangements.
Drinking water and first-aid/ambulance services.
Temporary power supply and sanitation facilities.
Cultural programmes and prize distribution.
Exhibition football match.
Felicitation of outstanding government employees.
Responsibilities were assigned to the concerned departments, including the Works Department, Municipality, Health Department, Police, Horticulture, Public Health Engineering (PHD), Food Supplies, Education, Social Welfare, District Transport Office, Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Agriculture, Sports, Culture, and the Information & Public Relations Department to ensure the smooth conduct of all events.
This year, 26 parade platoons from various schools and colleges across the district are scheduled to participate. Parade rehearsals will be conducted at the Nabarangpur Stadium on August 11, 12, and 13, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m. each day.
Concluding the meeting, the District Collector directed all departments and participating institutions to discharge their assigned responsibilities efficiently and ensure that the 80th Independence Day celebrations are conducted in a grand, disciplined, and memorable manner.
