Asika, May 19: Shiv Shankar Mishra: People have demanded that the State Road Transport Corporation start a government bus service connecting Brahmapur, the commercial hub of Odisha’s Ganjam district, with Bhawanipatna, the main town of Kalahandi district in western Odisha.
The proposed bus route would begin from Brahmapur and pass through Hinjilicut, Asika, Dharakote, Sorada, Daringbadi, Baliguda, Tumudibandha, M. Rampur, Narla and Satiguda before reaching Bhawanipatna.
People say that operating a government bus on this route is very important for economic development and better connectivity between the districts. Government employees and common people travel regularly between these places for their daily work and other needs.
As there is currently no government bus service between Brahmapur and Bhawanipatna, private buses are reportedly charging passengers arbitrary and high fares. Therefore, people are urging the state government to introduce a government bus service on this route at the earliest for the convenience of travelers.
