Continuous Rain Cuts Off Road Between Kesadhiha and Shamu Sahi

Thakurmunda: In Mayurbhanj district’s Thakurmunda block, the road connecting Kesadhiha village to Shamu Sahi under Kesadhiha Gram Panchayat has been completely cut off due to persistent rainfall. A small bridge on this road was never properly constructed on either side, causing severe inconvenience to the local people.

During the earlier rainy season, villagers had filled the road with soil themselves. However, as the soil was loose and light, the continuous rains over the past few days have washed away the soil, making the road completely impassable for bicycles and motorcycles. As a result, residents are facing difficulties in accessing essential services, especially medical care and drinking water.

Around 60 families reside in Shamu Sahi, where there is also an Anganwadi centre. According to reports, the one-kilometre stretch of this road contains three small culverts. Two years ago, one of these culverts was washed away. As no action was taken by the administration since then, the locals have been trying to maintain the road on their own.

The issue has been ongoing for two years, yet the administration has not responded. This lack of intervention is now being widely criticized. Since this problem reappears with every rainy season, the villagers are urging the government to immediately take necessary steps and permanently upgrade the road infrastructure to avoid further hardship.
