Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has taken a policy decision to appoint “Shishu Sevika” (Child Care Assistants) in the state’s Shishu Batika (pre-primary) centers. These Shishu Sevikas will assist the young children in the Shishu Batikas and help reduce the burden of non-teaching tasks on the teachers.
From the current academic year, Shishu Batikas have been opened in 45,000 government primary schools across the state. These centers provide pre-primary education to children aged 5 to 6 years. Based on the number of enrolled children, the appointment of Shishu Sevikas will be decided as per requirement.
According to the decision, Shishu Sevikas will be paid the same remuneration as the cooks appointed in government schools. The payment will be made from the Samagra Shiksha (Integrated Education) budget.
