HK Desk 5th February 2025 As January was dedicated to road safety awareness, the Balasore district police organized a marathon on the last day to spread awareness. The event saw participation from the Balasore police administration, district administration, fire department, forest department, transport department, and officials from various other departments. Additionally, numerous social organizations, school students, and citizens also joined the marathon.
The marathon started near Meghadambaru Chhak and concluded at Police Line Reserve Ground. The top three runners were awarded, along with 20 other participants who were also recognized for their efforts. Furthermore, winners of various competitions held throughout the month were felicitated.
Officials Emphasize Road Safety Measures
Speaking at the event, local MLA Manas Dutta emphasized the importance of road safety and appreciated the efforts taken during the month-long campaign. Balasore SP Raj Prasad highlighted the police’s role in reducing road accidents, stating, “Throughout this month, we have conducted several awareness programs. The residents of Balasore have actively participated in all initiatives. We hope that this campaign will make people more aware. Moving forward, we aim to strengthen checkpoints, deploy additional forces, and conduct stricter vehicle checks. This month’s efforts have yielded positive results, leading to penalties for reckless driving and violations, including license cancellations and fines.”
District Collector Surya Vanshi Mayur Vikas also shared his thoughts: “During this Road Safety Month, we undertook various initiatives to reduce road accident fatalities and raise awareness. I urge everyone to follow traffic rules. Awareness campaigns were conducted in schools and colleges, including cycle rallies and other activities to promote road safety.”
