Cuttack, Oct. 6 (UDN): A 21-year-old man reportedly attempted suicide by jumping from a water tank on the premises of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Tuesday.

The youth, identified as Rajesh Parida, had reportedly visited the hospital’s Psychiatry Department for a medical consultation. According to sources, he subsequently climbed onto a water tank estimated to be around 50 feet high.

Hospital staff and others reportedly made sustained efforts to persuade him to come down safely. However, he eventually jumped from the structure.

He was immediately taken to the Trauma Casualty for emergency treatment. Hospital sources said he sustained serious injuries and remains in critical condition.
