Women’s Day Bonanza: 1.64 Crore Women Get Financial Support

Bhubaneswar Mohan  Majhi distributed the second installment of financial assistance under the Subhadra Yojana to 1.64 crore women in Brahmapur, Rankram district. The Chief Minister stated that on the occasion of the 51st International Women’s Day, the new government, within just nine months, has opened the path to financial independence for over one crore mothers in the state. Each beneficiary received ₹10,000 in two installments. The Chief Minister called it a historic and proud moment.

During the event, he criticized the previous government, stating that those questioning the work done in nine months should compare it to the past 24 years when only slogans were given for women’s empowerment. In contrast, the Mohan government, within just 24 minutes of taking office, made the historic Subhadra scheme operational and distributed its benefits within three months. Now, in just nine months, over one crore women have received the second installment of financial aid.

He further compared the government’s progress to childbirth, stating that even a baby takes nine months in the womb before birth. The government is about to complete its nine months in just four more days, and the work accomplished within this short time is beyond the expectations of critics. He emphasized that while previous governments could not ensure a minimum support price for farmers even after 24 years, this government, within 24 minutes, decided to increase the MSP per quintal from ₹100 to ₹800.

Addressing the opposition, the Chief Minister said, “What you could not even think of in 24 years, we have implemented in action.” He also announced plans to support the marriage of girls from poor families and provide free Jagannath temple visits for the underprivileged. He called the Subhadra scheme a revolution, saying it is not just about distributing aid twice a year but a broader mission to empower and uplift women across all age groups.

Lakshapati Didi Scheme: Odisha Ranks Second in the Country

The Chief Minister also spoke about the Lakshapati Didi initiative, which aims to create three crore women entrepreneurs across India. Odisha has secured the second position nationally in implementing this scheme. So far, five lakh Lakshapati Didis have been created in the state, and the government aims to create 25 lakh such women entrepreneurs by 2027.

Marking International Women’s Day, the second installment of financial assistance under the Subhadra Yojana was distributed in Nabarangpur via live telecast. Several ministers, including Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Barjan Singh, Law Minister Prithiraj Harichandan, Animal Husbandry Minister Gokulananda Mallik, Commerce & Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Brahmapur MP Pradeep Panigrahi, Asika MP Alita Subhadarshini, and all legislators from Ganjam district, were present at the event.
