Bhadrak, Sept. 23 (UDN): A woman working as a data entry operator at a private healthcare facility in Bhadrak was found dead on the hospital premises, triggering tension in the area and prompting a police investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Seema Sahu, a resident of Karandimal village under Chandbali police station and Motto outpost. She had reportedly joined the private healthcare facility near the Cyber Police Station on September 9.
Family Alleges Harassment
According to Seema’s family members, she spoke to her mother over the phone on Tuesday night and allegedly complained of mental harassment and misbehaviour by some staff members at her workplace.
The family was informed about her death on Wednesday, following which they reached the hospital premises.
Hospital Denies Prior Complaint
Hospital authorities, however, reportedly said that Seema had not lodged any formal complaint regarding harassment before the incident.
They also stated that she had been seen on the hospital campus after completing her duty on Tuesday.
The contrasting accounts have raised questions about the circumstances surrounding her death, which are now being examined as part of the police investigation.
Police Begin Probe
On being informed, personnel from Puruna Bazar Police reached the hospital and began an investigation into the incident.
The circumstances leading to Seema’s death are yet to be established. Police are examining the available information and are expected to record statements from the family members, hospital authorities and others associated with the case.
Tension reportedly prevailed on the hospital premises for some time following the incident.
