Bhubaneswar: From the 2025–26 academic year, vocational education will be introduced in an additional 482 secondary and higher secondary schools across Odisha.
Under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, 311 schools have been approved for this initiative, while 171 schools have been approved under the PM SHRI program. This information was shared by the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA).
OSEPA has instructed the Board of Secondary Education to issue a notification in this regard. Additionally, teachers in the 424 secondary schools where vocational education is already active are to be informed accordingly.
Students in these schools will now be able to choose vocational subjects as a third language option. For the class 9 students of all the identified 482 schools who opt for vocational subjects, OSEPA has instructed the Board of Secondary Education to initiate online enrollment/registration.
