Dasharathpur: The intense heat has thrown normal life into disarray. After 10 a.m., people are avoiding going outside. It feels like the skin and entire body are burning. There’s no relief even indoors as frequent power cuts have rendered fans, coolers, and air conditioners useless.
Several areas including Jhumpuri Bazaar, Nandipur, Asanpur, Chasakhand, Biruhan, Jayantara, Shushua, and Mallikapur in Dasharathpur Block are facing persistent electricity issues. Although officially declared power outages are announced once a week for maintenance, unannounced power cuts are making people’s lives miserable.
Frequent power cuts — sometimes 5 to 8 times a day — are causing severe inconvenience, particularly for businesses that rely on refrigeration and cold drinks. Small children are suffering in the heat at home.
Local residents are demanding that senior officials take immediate steps to address the ongoing unannounced power cuts in Dasharathpur Block. They insist that minor repair work should not take unnecessarily long time. Meanwhile, consumers are frustrated as Tata Power continues to pressure them over unpaid electricity bills despite the unreliable service.
Leaders like Vishnu Charan Mohapatra (cooperative society president), educationist Shubhendu Kumar Mohapatra, politician Subash Chandra Mohanty, Patitpaban Mohanty, Chinnaya Pandab, Prajna Nayak, and Indrajit Das have questioned whether the power department can truly handle public backlash if people begin protesting over inadequate power supply.
