Two Decades of Neglect: Odisha’s Healthcare System Plagued by Corruption and Mismanagement

Bhubaneswar: In the past 24 years, the healthcare system in Odisha has witnessed numerous irregularities and mismanagement in the name of healthcare services. The BJP government is working towards correcting those flaws and establishing a qualitative and inclusive healthcare system to make the state healthier and more prosperous. From setting up new medical colleges and hospitals to increasing the number of medical seats, our double-engine government prioritizes the welfare of the common people.

In a significant step towards providing advanced healthcare services in the state, a new Pharmaceutical College has been inaugurated today in Kandhamal district. This inauguration honors the long-standing demand of the district’s residents and aims to provide quality healthcare services to the general public.

This pharmaceutical college, along with a 650-bed hospital, will not only benefit Kandhamal district but also help people in nearby regions. Earlier, people had to travel far to Cuttack or Berhampur for advanced medical treatment. Considering such challenges, this historic initiative has been taken for the benefit of the tribal population of Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Boudh, and Kalahandi districts.

I firmly believe that this institution will play an important role in the field of health education and research. The medical professionals trained here will serve across the state and the nation, setting an example in the field of healthcare. Our government remains constantly committed to building a healthy Odisha by prioritizing pharmaceutical education, modern medical science, and research in the field of medicine.
