Kotpad, May 14: A new Thakurani Temple was inaugurated on Thursday in Ankula village under Girla panchayat of Kotpad block in Koraput district.
The chief guest was Raj Kumar Jaydev, a landlord and king from the Sukma region of Chhattisgarh, along with his son Bijit Dev. Distinguished guests included local MLA Rupu Utara, former minister Sajjani Dian, Anamu Dian, Bar Council president Mani Patnaik, and Manhar Bisoyi, among others.
Several senior members of the Utara community such as Neelakantha Chalan, Bhima Majhi, Mangaraj Randhari, and Samar Pujari were also present.
More than a hundred men and women from Ankula village participated in a procession during the event. Zilla Parishad member Geeta Majhi and Block Vice-Chairman Tapan Panigrahi extended their cooperation.
It is noteworthy that the temple construction had started long ago with the help of villagers. However, due to a shortage of funds, the work could not be completed. Later, with the support of local representatives and financial assistance from the MLA’s development fund, the construction work was resumed and completed.
