Teachers’ Union Raises Concerns Over Mandatory Online Attendance System

Baleswar: In opposition to the government’s directive to take student attendance online, the teachers’ union submitted a memorandum to the District Education Officer on Wednesday. Starting from the 10th of this month, the state government has instructed all schools in the state to conduct attendance for both teachers and students online. However, teachers are deeply distressed about this decision.

To discuss this matter, a meeting was held at the OSTTA Union office with teacher representatives from various blocks of the district. The meeting was presided over by teacher leader Jagabandhu Panda. During the meeting, a memorandum was submitted to the District Education Officer.

Teacher leaders such as Arun Kumar Patra, Snehasish Patra, Khagendra Pal, Sushant Das, Pradeep Jena, Pramod Padhi, Vijay Hibeji, Paramita Rana, Rabinarayan Das, Purnendu Das, and Manishankar Mahapatra voiced their opposition to the online attendance policy. They criticized the lack of infrastructure support for online attendance, including inadequate provision of equipment, Wi-Fi services, and data operators for schools. As a result, the teachers expressed concerns over the feasibility of implementing this online attendance system without proper support from the government.
