Bhubaneswar, June 11:   A delegation of the Nikhila Utkal Primary Teachers’ Federation met the Director of Primary Education and discussed various issues concerning teachers.
The federation raised several demands, including enhancement of the basic grade pay, abolition of contractual appointments, counting of contractual service period in regular employment, and promotion of teachers on the basis of seniority. They also demanded the grant of ACP benefits to CT-qualified teachers, removal of irregularities in allowance payments, and security measures for teachers engaged in the SIR programme.

The association further demanded provision of health insurance, increase in sanctioned posts, and an end to assigning non-teaching duties and work during leave periods to primary school teachers.

In addition, the federation urged the government to fill vacant posts of Block Education Officers (BEOs) and Additional Block Education Officers.

Among those present were federation president Dhirendra Kumar Pattnaik, general secretary Charu Lata Mohapatra, vice-presidents Surendra Kuldeep and Biranchi Narayan Das, regional secretaries Deepak Raut and Ajit Choudhury, state advisors Bijay Kumar Nayak, Ajit Nayak, Samir Jena, Yudhishthir Sahu, and state coordinator Manoj Kumar Swain.
