Kotpad: Today marks a significant day for Kotpad, as a major initiative has been undertaken that has garnered much appreciation. The member of the Chamber of Commerce, B. Shankar Rao (Sanku), has donated a Swargarath (a funeral vehicle) in memory of his late father, aiming to provide better funeral services in the region.
The inauguration of this Swargarath took place at Mallik Restaurant in Kotpad, with the Chief Guest, Jaypur MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, and Koraput District Collector V. K. Kirthivasan formally launching the service. Both the MLA and the District Collector praised B. Shankar Rao (Sanku) for his noble contribution.
This initiative is particularly beneficial for the Kotpad region, where transporting the deceased for final rites has been a major challenge, especially for the economically weaker sections. The cremation grounds in Kotpad are located far away, making it difficult for families to carry out funeral rites. This Swargarath will provide much-needed assistance in addressing these issues.
During the event, B. Shankar Rao expressed his gratitude to the media, emphasizing that the funeral vehicle would help the people of Kotpad immensely. The event was attended by prominent personalities, including Chamber of Commerce President Ganesh Chandra Panda, former MLA Padmini Dian, Secretary Sukanta Mishra, along with other members, intellectuals, and dignitaries. Several social workers from the Kotpad region actively participated in and supported this noble cause.
