Once known as a Maoist stronghold, Malkangiri district was long feared by tourists and outsiders. However, after prolonged efforts by the previous administration, the area has largely become free from Maoist activity. As a result, the natural beauty and hidden gems of the district have gradually started attracting public attention.

Now, as Malkangiri begins to emerge as a new tourist destination, it is expected that a growing influx of visitors will contribute significantly to the district’s overall development.
