State Gears Up to Implement National Education Policy (NEP) Soon

Bhubaneswar: A three-day meeting has been held to discuss this matter. The new curriculum will be introduced very soon, according to the School and Mass Education Minister, Nityananda Gond.

Bhubaneswar: The previous government had not implemented the National Education Policy (NEP) and had adopted a delaying strategy. However, our government is committed to the development of education, said the Minister.

State Language and Education Training Institute to be operationalized

After assuming office, the government has formed a Task Force to implement the National Education Policy. Additionally, a Steering Committee has been constituted to prepare the curriculum in line with the new policy. This committee includes distinguished educationists from both national and state levels.

Speaking during the departmental expenditure discussion in January, Minister Gond stated that the state government has allocated the highest budget for education development. He also mentioned that junior-level vacancies would be filled in the coming days.

Furthermore, ₹1 crore has been proposed for the construction of quarters in government high schools. Additional classrooms will be built in both primary and secondary schools.

To promote sports at the school level, the Odisha State School Sports Association will be formed. The State Language and Education Training Institute (SIALTI) will function to provide training in all subjects at schools.

In addition, ₹6 crore has been allocated for the e-evaluation of higher secondary examination papers under the Odisha Council of Higher Secondary Education. A proposal of ₹10 crore has been made for the construction of various government higher secondary schools, the Minister added.
