Separate Law for Coaching Centers Set to Be Introduced for Better Regulation

Bhubaneswar: There is currently no separate regulation for coaching centers in Odisha. The Central Government has already formulated a set of guidelines, but despite repeated complaints, they have not yet been implemented in the state.

To regulate and manage coaching centers, the Odisha Parents’ Association had lodged a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission in 2018. In response, the Central Government issued guidelines in 2024.

Back in November 6, 2017, the State Higher Education Department had prepared a draft bill and sought public opinion on the matter. However, no further action has been taken since then.

The Odisha Parents’ Association has once again drawn the attention of the Higher Education Minister and demanded immediate steps to regulate coaching centers through a separate law.
