Bhubaneswar: An investment proposal worth ₹1191.47 crore in the field of renewable energy has been approved during the 10th Single Window Committee meeting.
This includes two wind energy projects of 957 MW, four land-based solar energy projects of 53.97 MW, and the state’s first battery storage project of 0.6 MWh capacity.
The projects were approved based on the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy-2022 during the meeting chaired by Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary of the State Energy Department.
Through these projects, the natural potential for renewable energy production in Odisha can be optimally utilized.
Additionally, these initiatives will help in achieving the targets set under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy-2022.
On the occasion, Mr. Dev emphasized the importance of renewable energy for sustainable economic development.
He stated that the government is committed to facilitating investments and ensuring timely implementation of the approved projects.
During the meeting, a review was also conducted on the progress of various projects approved in the previous (9th) Single Window Committee meeting.
Senior officers from the State Energy Department, Water Resources Department, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, GRIDCO, OPTCL, OHPC, and power distribution companies, along with Chief Electrical Engineers, participated in the meeting.
With the proactive policies and streamlined procedures of the state government, investment in the renewable energy sector has been increasing through the Energy Department’s Single Window Committee and GRIDCO, the nodal agency for renewable energy.
So far, the Single Window Committee has approved capital investments of ₹12,387.36 crore for projects with a total capacity of 1707.56 MW in the renewable energy sector.
