Bhubaneswar, Aug 3 [UDN}:The Union Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the extension of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme for another five years. The decision is aimed at ensuring continued financial support to millions of eligible farmers across the country and strengthening the agricultural sector.
Under the extended programme, the Central Government will spend an estimated ₹3.15 lakh crore over the next five years. The scheme provides direct income support of ₹6,000 per year to eligible farmer families, credited in three equal installments directly into their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The extension reflects the government’s commitment to improving farmers’ welfare, enhancing rural livelihoods, and ensuring financial stability for agricultural households. Since its launch in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme has benefited crores of farmers by providing timely financial assistance for agricultural activities and household needs.
The fresh allocation of ₹3.15 lakh crore is expected to help sustain agricultural growth, promote inclusive rural development, and provide continued income support to farmers across India over the next five years.
