Bhubaneswar,Sept 28 [UDN}:More than 22.28 lakh farmers have registered themselves for paddy procurement during the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2026-27, marking an all-time high in farmer registration in Odisha.
During the previous Kharif Marketing Season 2025-26, around 19.67 lakh farmers had registered for paddy sales. The latest figure represents an increase of more than 2.61 lakh farmers compared with last year.
The record registration is being seen as a significant indication of growing confidence among farmers in the state’s paddy procurement system and government arrangements for the sale of their produce.
Welcoming the achievement, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra expressed his gratitude to all farmers across Odisha for their continued trust and participation. The minister said the record number of registrations reflects the confidence of the farming community in the government’s procurement mechanism.
The minister thanked the state’s farmers for contributing to what he described as an unprecedented achievement, while the department is expected to proceed with arrangements for the smooth procurement of paddy during the 2026-27 Kharif season.
