Nabarangapur: Sept 22 [UDN}:The Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) is set to introduce a new 2/2 AC Night Express bus service between Nabarangapur and Paralakhemundi, bringing a long-awaited inter-district connectivity link back into operation. The service is expected to commence shortly after the arrival of the new bus.
The route, which had remained non-operational for more than 10 years, is now being revived following sustained efforts by the Jeypore Zone authorities and continued follow-up through the relevant objection and grievance-hearing process. The necessary permit for operating the service has reportedly been approved.
Once the new bus reaches the concerned zone, the night service will operate regularly in both directions via Damanjodi, connecting several important towns and transport points across Nabarangapur, Koraput and Rayagada districts, before reaching Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district.
Nabarangapur to Paralakhemundi Schedule
According to the proposed timetable, the bus will depart from Nabarangapur every day at 7:30 PM. It will travel via Borigumma and is scheduled to reach Jeypore at 8:37 PM.
From Jeypore, the bus will proceed towards Koraput, where it is scheduled to arrive at approximately 9:25 PM. It will then continue through Sunabeda and Semiliguda, reaching Damanjodi at around 10:35 PM.
After a scheduled departure from Damanjodi at 11:05 PM, the bus will proceed through Kakirigumma and Laxmipur before reaching and crossing the Rayagada Terminal at approximately 1:45 AM.
The night journey will then continue through JK Pur, Ramnaguda, Gumuda, Damsara, Gunupur and Kashinagar. After travelling through these important locations, the bus is scheduled to complete its onward journey and reach Paralakhemundi at 6:05 AM the following morning.
The service is expected to provide an overnight travel option for passengers travelling between southern Odisha’s major towns and the Paralakhemundi region.
Return Journey from Paralakhemundi
The return service will also operate as a night journey. The bus will leave the Paralakhemundi bus stand at 8:05 PM and proceed towards Gunupur.
It is scheduled to reach Gunupur at around 10:05 PM and subsequently leave Rayagada at approximately 12:25 AM. From Rayagada, the bus will travel through Kakirigumma and Damanjodi, continuing towards Koraput and Jeypore.
According to the timetable, the bus will reach Koraput at 4:33 AM. It will then arrive at the Government New Bus Stand in Jeypore at around 5:13 AM.
From Jeypore, the bus will continue via Borigumma and is scheduled to reach Nabarangapur at approximately 6:33 AM, completing the return journey.

The revival of the route is expected to strengthen overnight public transport connectivity between Nabarangapur, Jeypore, Koraput, Sunabeda-Semiliguda, Damanjodi, Laxmipur, Rayagada, Gunupur, Kashinagar and Paralakhemundi.
The proposed 2/2 AC Night Express will also offer passengers a more comfortable long-distance travel option, particularly for those travelling between southern Odisha districts for work, education, healthcare, business and other purposes.
With the required permit having been approved and the service expected to begin after the arrival of the new bus, passengers along the route are now awaiting the formal commencement of the OSRTC night service.
