Jharigaon : In a tragic accident, a bike crashed into an electric pole, resulting in the death of one person on the spot and leaving two others critically injured. The incident took place in Dangariguda Panchayat under Jharigaon block of Nabarangpur district.
According to reports, Damudhar Bhatra (50) and his wife Damae Bhatra (45) from Dua village had gone to attend a wedding in Siunaguda village under Dhamanaguda Panchayat. Today, their son-in-law Surya Bhatra went to Siunaguda on a bike to bring them back.
While returning around 3 PM, the bike allegedly hit an elderly pedestrian from Siunaguda, causing the rider to lose balance and crash into an electric pole on the roadside. Damudhar sustained severe head injuries and died at the scene, while his wife and the elderly pedestrian were critically injured.
Locals immediately called an ambulance, which arrived at the scene and transported the two injured individuals to Umerkote Community Health Center for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has lodged a written complaint at Dabugam police station. Upon receiving the report, Dabugam police reached the scene, seized the body, and sent it for post-mortem.
Residents have pointed out that many electric poles in the middle of the road in Architaguda village pose a constant danger, often leading to such fatal accidents. They are now demanding the removal of these poles from the road for public safety.
