Bhubaneswar, July 21 (UDN): The Odisha State Election Commission (SEC) has initiated preparations for the 2027 Panchayat and Urban Local Body (ULB) elections, holding a high-level review meeting with district collectors to assess the readiness of election machinery across the state.

The meeting, conducted through video conferencing, focused on planning, coordination, and ensuring timely completion of all pre-election activities.

The State Election Commission informed that the process of preparing the electoral roll will begin in October 2026. As part of the voter list revision, officials will conduct a door-to-door survey to verify voter details and update the electoral database, ensuring greater accuracy and inclusiveness.

District administrations have been asked to extend full cooperation during the revision process and ensure that eligible voters are included in the electoral rolls while necessary corrections are carried out.

The Commission emphasised the importance of a transparent and error-free electoral roll, considering it a crucial step towards the smooth conduct of the 2027 local body elections.

The review meeting reflects the SEC’s focus on early planning and systematic coordination to ensure free, fair, and efficient elections across Odisha.
