Bhubaneswar, July 10 (UDN): Odisha’s panchayat elections are expected to take place in April-May 2027, with the election schedule being slightly delayed due to the ongoing voter list revision process, the State Election Commission (SEC) said.

The delay comes as authorities are carrying out the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and completing verification work to ensure that voter records are accurate before the polls.

The panchayat elections are an important democratic exercise in Odisha, giving people in rural areas the opportunity to choose their local representatives and strengthen grassroots governance.

Election officials said completing the voter list revision is a key step before announcing the final poll schedule. The additional time will help ensure that preparations are carried out smoothly and that eligible voters are included in the electoral process.

The SEC is expected to release the detailed election timetable after the completion of the required administrative and electoral preparations.
